Small Screen Big Happenings: Mercedes’ Love Interest? Alan Ball’s Amish Show? Roseanne Reprise?

Because I am an admitted TV head, reading the entertainment news this morning was like bit like sniffing glue. There is just so much going on in the television universe! After the jump, read all the news, from Jennifer Love Hewitt’s new-old role and Roseanne Barr’s potential new sitcom.

  • One thing that’s always bugged me about “Glee?” That Mercedes never gets a love interest. Well, no more. LaMarcus Tinker—aka, big guy Tinker of the East Dillon Lions on “Friday Night Lights”—is joining the cast and will be making eyes at Mercedes. Too cute. And who knew he could sing? [People]
  • Alan Ball, aka the creator of “True Blood” and “Six Feet Under,” is working on a new potential show for Cinemax. Titled “Banshee,” it’s about an ex-con who ends up Pennsylvania Amish Country and somehow weasels his way into becoming sheriff. I predict many rumspringa moments. [Huffington Post]
  • “Rosanne’s Nuts” is wonderful, but it gets us a little nostalgic for days of her amazing sitcom. Well, she is apparently developing a show called “Downwardly Mobile” about “”a close-knit blue-collar family living in tough economic times.” Sounds just like the Connors. Which is a good thing. [Huffington Post]
  • Last year, Jennifer Love Hewitt played a single mom turned prostitute in Lifetime’s “The Client List.” Apparently, the network was so into movie that they are expanding it into a series, with Jennifer reprising her role and executive producing. The show has been greenlit for 10 episodes. [Reuters]

Which of these TV happenings is the most exciting to you? I vote for Alan Ball’s Amish show.
