If you’re into theater, you’ve probably noticed that the musicals and plays whose names are emblazoned in neon lights over Broadway and London’s West End recently read a bit like a Blockbuster or Netflix queue. Turning a popular movie into a musical isn’t new—it’s happened with flicks from “The Producers” to “The Color Purple.” Heck “Big: The Musical” was even nominated for four Tonys in 1996.
