Okay, fine, I’ll admit it. I’m a little mad at The CW for canceling “Hellcats,” the show starring Aly Michalka and Ashley Tisdale as competitive college cheerleaders that happened to be loosely based on my book, CHEER!. That said, I’m getting over it because they are bringing two of my favorites—Sarah Michelle Gellar and Rachel Bilson—back to the small screen after years off the air.
After the jump, check out the network’s new offerings that we will absolutely be DVRing.
The Show: “Ringer”
The Deets: The CW, Tuesdays at 9 p.m. (EST)
Oh, how we’ve missed you Buffy. In this new show, Sarah Michelle Gellar plays twins sisters, Siobhan and Bridget—the first a well-to-do, married perfect girl and the second a total f-up who is on the run from the law. But when Siobhan unexpectedly dies, Bridget decides to assume her life and learns her perfect sister had some serious secrets, too.
The Show: “Hart of Dixie”
The Deets: The CW, Mondays at 9 p.m. (EST)
Ahhh, TV shows with pun titles—”Get Smart,” “Blind Justice,” “Miss Match.” In this new one, Rachel Bilson plays Zoe Hart (wait, get it?) an ambitious young doctor born and bred in New York who moves to Alabama when she’s offered a practice. It’s kind of like “Grey’s Anatomy”—hey, another pun title show!—meets Civil War re-enacting.
The Show: “The Secret Circle”
The Deets: The CW, Thursdays at 9 p.m.
In this new series, Britt Robertson (from the great-but-cancelled “Life Unexpected”) moves to Seattle to live with her grandma and discovers that she, and many of her new classmates, are descendants of witches. There are a few too many “Twilight” parallels for me—the Washington locale, all the glowing in this clip— but I am willing to give it a chance.
The Show: “H8er”
The Deets: The CW, Wednesdays at 8 p.m. (EST)
This reality show lets much maligned “stars” like Snooki and Kim Kardashian confront their biggest critics. Then they spend time with them to show them they’re not so bad after all. Mr. Dimples himself, Mario Lopez, will be hosting.
