It’s not easy being green, especially when you want to be fashionable as well. But Kathleen, of the blog Ashtray/Rabbit, manages to make vegan and ethical fashion look positively radiant. Says Kathleen, “My blog is a mix of photos I style and model in against prose and poetry I write. Everything — unless otherwise noted — I wear is vegan and cruelty-free; I set out to produce a blog that displays how vegan fashion can be in vogue, considering the current negative connotations it holds.” Check out some of Kathleen’s favorite things, after the jump!
Kara Neko: My model friend Kara Neko is one of the most incredible muses around. Her blog is a must-follow, if only for the amazing photos she posts of herself and her own inspirations.
Jeremy Scott: While he may not be vegan, I was absolutely ecstatic to see Scott’s latest Fall/Winter 2011 collection, especially when he made models wear T-shirts that read “Milk Kills.” I also love his embrace of color and obvious inspiration in everything pop culture-related. Who else could pull off a Flintsones line?
Chadwick Tyler: Turned to his work by my aforementioned friend/blogger Kara Neko, this photographer’s images are stunningly alluring.
Charlotte Gainsbourg: One of the most versatile actresses who happens to star in just about every one of my favorite films, Charlotte Gainsbourg has this haunting, nontraditional beauty that makes her so unique. She has grace, sophistication, and fabulous style that goes unsurpassed.
“Dogtooth”: As I am pursuing a possible career in film, I am a complete film junkie! My wardrobe is an eclectic mix of various styles I attribute to my favorite movies. One film I’m crazy about at the moment is Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos’ “Dogtooth,” which depicts the bizarre tale of a family who has raised their teenage children in a fabricated reality void of the outside world. [I totally second this film, it is CRAZY CAKES! -- Julie]
