Taylor Swift‘s new video for “Mean” is pretty … nice. Taylor has said that the song channels how she feels about critics who go overboard with nasty comments. But in the videos, she broadens the meaning—showing football players picking on a fashion-loving guy and a group of mean girls mocking a classmate who works as a waitress. Both those characters get their comeuppance in the future. But my favorite part of the video is where Taylor plays the part of a damsel in distress being tied to the train tracks. In the end, she undoes her own ropes. All in all, a good message.
