Celebs Who Endorse Donald Trump For President — And The Ones Who Don’t

If Donald Trump seriously runs for president (which I don’t think will happen, but still) and gets so much as one single vote in the primaries, I am moving to Canada. No ifs, ands or buts about it. The man who popularized frou-frou pompadours on men, trashy divorces, and the phrase “You’re fired!” is like a one-man encyclopedia entry for the phrase “ugly American.”

Whaddya know, a lot of celebs agree with me: Susan Sarandon, Cher, Tracy Morgan. And then there are the yokels who would actually “Vote Trump!” And there’s quite a few of them…Celebs Who Would Elect That Pompous Blowhard When Hell Freezes Over:

  • Susan Sarandon: Not a fan. Color us shocked. “He’s just trying to get attention,” she said. Understatement of the year. [NYmag.com]
  • Cher: Also not a fan. Cher tweeted: “Donald Trump is pompous a**hole! Saw him in Aspen with one D-cup chick after another. Everyone up there thought he was a complete idiot.” [Twitter]
  • Jerry Seinfeld: Jerry caused a kerfluffle when he backed out of a charity event for St. Jude’s, thrown on behalf of Donald’s son Eric Trump, after becoming increasingly “uncomfortable” with Papa Trump’s “demagoguery,” as his rep put it. Then Donald Trump, classy man that he is, published a nasty letter in The New York Post criticizing Jerry for not being a man of his word and saying he regretted going on Jerry’s “failed” TV show, “The Marriage Ref.” Jerry Seinfeld responded in an interview with “Extra!”: “Let me say this about Donald Trump. “I love Donald Trump. All comedians love Donald Trump. If God gave comedians the power to invent people, the first person we would invent is Donald Trump … God’s gift to comedy.” Indeed. [Huffington Post]
  • Robert DeNiro: DeNiro wouldn’t name names but it was clear in an NBC interview whom he was calling a big buffoon when he referenced Trump pressuring President Obama to hold a press conference and reveal his birth certificate to appease the crazy birthers. “I won’t mention names, but certain people in the news the last couple weeks, just, what are they doing?” He said. “It’s crazy. They’re making statements about people that they don’t even back up. Go get the facts before you start saying things about people.” Trump responded by saying DeNiro is “not Albert Einstein.” Weak comeback, dude. [Los Angeles Times]
  • Tracy Morgan: Tracy is not having any of this nonsense. “Come on, man, nobody got no time for Donald Trump,” Tracy said. “Go build buildings, go play with your Lego set. We don’t give any credence to that.” Ha! [CNN]
  • John Legend: John will not be voting for Trump, either. “He needs to stop saying that racist bulls**t birther s**t,” John said of the Obama’s birth certificate brouhaha. “Quote me please. He should be ashamed of himself. It’s awful, really.” [NYmag.com]

Celebs Who Have Actually Endorsed Trump For President, Or Stood Up For Him Publicly:

  • Gary Busey: Despite getting canned from “Celebrity Apprentice,” Gary is campaigning for Donald Trump now. Gary created a cleaver acronym for Trump’s name: Taking Redirection Understanding Massive Power. He’s an asset to the campaign — er, “campaign” — already. [Indecision Forever]
  • Joey Lawrence: Whoooooa! Joey is not a fan of President Obama, who he said is offering “pretty much the same thing” president-wise. Who can bring real change to Washington? “I’d be open to Donald,” Joey said. “He’s somebody out of the box and I think that some of the stuff he’s saying makes sense. It sounds like you and I would say it, and it’s time,” Lawrence said. “I’m tired of ‘so politically correct’ every step of the way. It’s like there are times when we need to say, ‘We’re getting our rear ends kicked, we are the world leader, we need to step up and act like it.'” Well, The Donald is certainly not politically correct — that’s for sure. Added Joey, “I think Donald is an interesting character. He’s an amazing CEO, this is a business. This is a business, running this country is a business and it has not been run the last decade the right way, whether it’s Republican or Democrat, so it’s not really a party issue, it’s more of a person issue. Somebody has to get in there and really hold people accountable.” Maybe Joey wants Trump to barge into the budget office and shout, “You’re fired!” [Fozx 411]
  • Pat Buchanan: Conservative commenter Pat Buchanan did not endorse Trump for president, per se, but he did defend The Donald after he puzzingly announced, “I’ve always had a great relationship with the blacks. Some of my best friends are black.” The blacks? Yes, that monolithic group of black people who all think exactly alike. [Pams House Blend]
  • Orly Taitz: Orly Taitz, queen of the “birther” movement, endorses Donald Trump because … well … yeah. [The Atlantic Monthly]
  • Lewis Black: Relax, everyone, he was kidding. [NYmag.com]
