Elizabeth Taylor Fashionably Late To Own Funeral, Did Last Interview With Kim Kardashian

At Elizabeth Taylor’s funeral yesterday, the proceedings began exactly 15 minutes late. On purpose—this was one of Elizabeth’s final requests. “She even wanted to be late for her own funeral,” a spokesperson explained. Considering her renown, the ceremony was small and limited to friends and family. Apparently, Colin Farrell gave a reading. Then Elizabeth was buried in the Great Mausoleum, near her buddy Michael Jackson. Elizabeth’s final interview landed on newsstands in February, when it wasn’t clear it would be her last. Bizarrely, Kim Kardashian got the honor of conducting Liz’s final interview, for Harper’s Bazaar, in addition to doing a photo spread wearing some of the original garb Elizabeth rocked in “Cleopatra.” The photos were meh, but the interview was interesting. In it, Elizabeth said, “I never planned to acquire a lot of jewels or a lot of husbands. For me, life happened, just as it does for anyone else. I have been supremely lucky in my life in that I have known great love, and of course … some incredible and beautiful things.”

Like Kim, Elizabeth was an avid Twitterer, even though most people of her generation probably couldn’t tell you what the word meant. “I like the connection with fans and people who have been supportive of me,” Elizabeth told Kim. “And I love the idea of real feedback and a two-way street, which is very, very modern.”

So what was Elizabeth’s final Tweet? “My interview in Bazaar with Kim Kardashian came out!!! You look like a princess in Egyptian robes, love!”
