True story: I went to grad school in Brighton, England, the place where raves never died. Everywhere you go in Brighton, there are middle-aged people wearing neon yarn hair, a holdover from their days in the rave caves of the ’90s. Often, these rave casualties would tote around their children, and many times I felt pangs of second-hand embarrassment for the tweens whose moms and dads sported fake neon dreadlocks down to their knees. It gave me the douchechills. Willow Smith’s new neon braids remind me of those Brighton folks, but unlike them, her new hairdo is age- and life-appropriate. Whip it, girl. [Buzzfeed]
