In the last couple of months, I’ve lost about 15 pounds (on purpose). I’ve lost enough that my clothes are big on me, but not so big to justify buying a whole new wardrobe. Any suggestions for how I can make my wardrobe more skinny-friendly without spending too much? I’m finding that most of my jeans are baggy and my shirts look big and blousey, not showing off my figure the way I want to. I’ve always loved my legs, but now I have a new, flatter stomach, too. Are there some new pieces I should buy? Any other tricks?– Andrea
First off, it’s a smart decision to work with what you’ve already got! People often feel the need to run out and buy a whole new collection of clothes when they lose weight, but there are simple things you can do with your clothes to save yourself money and closet space. One suggestion — take some of your most expensive and most-beloved pieces and get them tailored. There’s no reason to get rid of those $150 jeans — a good tailor can get them taken in at the waist for way less than what it would cost to buy a new pair. You can also keep some of your favorite items by employing some slimming accessories — like wide, cinching belts and fitted blazers or cropped jackets. We also recommend that you buy at least a couple of pieces you love that highlight your favorite parts of your new body. If you like your smaller waist, for instance, purchase a figure-flattering party dress. After the jump, some of our favorite new-body options.
