Tim Burton Got Rejected Too

Amelia McDonell-Parry / March 12, 2011

This is what Tim Burton was working on long before he was the Tim Burton. In 1976, he submitted this children’s book, The Giant Zlig, to an editor at Walt Disney Productions for publishing.

Dear Sirs,

I am submitting this book in hopes that you might consider publishing it. The book has been layed [sic] out in rough form, and I would be glad to make any changes that you feel would be nessecary [sic]. I would hope to hear from you either way. Thankyou.

Sadly, The Giant Zlig was rejected. You can see his rejection letter here. I bet that editor feels like an ass. Aren’t we glad he kept at it? Take note. Perseverance, people. [Letters of Note]
