Ira Glass Discovers The Recipe For Coca-Cola

Bwahahahaha! The Coca-Cola code has been cracked! And by Ira Glass of “This American Life” no less. So how did he get his hands on the top secret recipe which people have been trying to decode since the late 1800’s? He came come across a copy of it (which is normally kept under lock and key in a guarded vault in Atlanta) in an old photograph. The recipe for Coca-Cola, after the jump. Let the soda-making begin! Fluid extract of Coca — 3 drams USP
Citric acid — 3 oz
Caffeine — 1oz
Sugar — 30 (measurement unclear)
Water — 2.5 gal
Lime juice — 2 pints 1 qrt
Vanilla — 1oz
Caramel –1.5oz or more to color
7X flavor — use 2oz of flavor to 5 gals syrup (this is supposedly what gives Coca-Cola its unique flavor … but how do you make 7X?)
Alcohol — 8oz
Orange oil — 20 drops
Lemon oil — 30 drops
Nutmeg oil — 10 drops
Coriander — 5 drops
Neroli –10 drops
Cinnamon –10 drops
