We know that couples, family members, and best friends love to brag about how they share a brain, which results in all that annoying finishing each other’s sentences stuff. Just because they claim to know what the other is thinking, that may not mean they actually understand each other any better than two strangers. A new study says that when two people are very close, communication suffers. Why? Because we assume we get them, whereas with strangers we don’t. Basically our brains get used to another’s language patterns and we become lazy at interpreting what they actually mean, which leads to long-term disagreements.
