Album Drop: This Week’s New Music Releases, From The Decemberists To Social Distortion

It’s new tunes Tuesday, and some lovely albums are waiting to be downloaded or, gasp, bought at the record store. This week, The Decemberists release a new one, even though it’s technically January; Social Distortion is back and ready to give you cold feelings in the night; James Blunt croons some more; and Braids inspire you to let your hair down. So let’s get into the groove, after the jump.

The Decemberists, The King Is Dead
The Portland folksy rockers make an album that is just begging to be listened to on a deserted highway. Road trip, anyone?

Social Distortion, Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes
Seeing these punk icons back in the ’90s possibly changed my life. So I’m thrilled Mike Ness and crew are back so many years later and sound pretty darn good.

Braids, Native Speaker
The tracks from this gorgeous album sound straight out of your dreams. Airy and eery, this band’s sounds wash over you in a gorgeous way.

James Blunt, Some Kind of Trouble
It’s not my thing, but many people think James Blunt’s sunny, guy with guitar tunes are beautiful. It’s true.
