“The Celebrity Apprentice” — Who Trump Rejected Before It Even Started
Obviously, I will be rooting for NeNe Leakes in the soon-to-start season of “Celebrity Apprentice.” Donald Trump has announced the new cast, and it’s pretty awesome: in addition to NeNe, there’s Meatloaf, David Cassidy, Dionne Warwick, Latoya Jackson, Jose Canseco, Richard Hatch of “Survivor,” Garey Busey, Lil Jon, Mark McGrath, Marlee Matlin, Lisa Rinna, Niki Taylor and Star Jones. But what’s even more interesting is who Trump didn’t pick. “We turned down 35 to 40 people,” Trump says. “We really qualify people.” [People]
So who got the big N-O? Find out after the jump.
- Lindsay Lohan was rumored to be “Celebrity Apprentice” bound, but it is not to be. “[The Lohans] approached me, and we did talk about it. It’s just not the right time,” Trump said. “Lindsay has to straighten herself out first. It could happen in the future.” [Huffington Post]
- Rachel Uchitel, best known for being Tiger Woods’ mistress #1, was in talks to be on the show. But after she signed on for “Celebrity Rehab,” Trump was no longer interested—it’s unclear whether that’s because they wanted her to clean up her pill addiction first or because they didn’t like being her second reality show for the year. A Trump spokesperson said, “Rachel Uchitel very much wanted to be on ‘Celebrity Apprentice.’ She asked us, we did not ask her. We were considering it but have 10 people vying for each and every spot.” Eye roll here. [Brainz]
- Trump bragged this time last year that he had turned down several people who went on to be on “Dancing with the Stars.” He said, “A couple of the people from ‘Dancing with the Stars’ wanted to be on this and they got rejected! I look at ‘Dancing with the Stars’ and I like the show—and I look at this and I look at the casts and we blow them away.” Not that we should be surprised that Trump has an overblown ego. - But the rejection also went in the other direction. Apparently, Trump really wanted Pauly D of “Jersey Shore” for the show, but he said no in favor of his own spin-off, “Pauly’s Entourage” on MTV. I think he made a good choice. [Bitten and Bound]
