Two Of These Entertainers Sold The Most Magazines In 2010 And One Sold The Least

The world is so fixated on what Lady Gaga will do and wear next that she was the newsstand hit in 2010. She can sell a magazine as well as she sells out her concerts. According to the Audit Bureau of Circulations, Gaga graced the covers of the best-selling Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, Cosmopolitan, and Elle issues in 2010. Rihanna also did well on the newsstands. Her GQ cover was the second-best seller for the men’s mag. But she also had appeal with young women, as her Seventeen cover also sold like hotcakes. Surprisingly, Taylor Swift was an under-performer at the newsstands. Her April Elle cover was the worst-selling issue of the year. Likewise, Taylor’s November Glamour cover was the mag’s second-worst seller, and her July Marie Claire was the third-worst selling issue for the monthly. So what does this say about our culture now? We’re more interested in celebs with a sexy edge as opposed to a wholesome image. [WWD]
