Sometimes the fashion choices we make end up mattering a lot more than we could have imagined. For example, when my mom was a teenager she climbed Mt. Hood, Oregon’s tallest peak at over 11,000 feet. Like the all-around badass she is, she reached the summit, but nearly died in the process because her desire to color-coordinate her climbing outfit had left her with insufficient layers. She came very close to death, or at the very least freezing off some of her key reproductive organs, in which case I wouldn’t even be here today to write this post. Crazy, right? Read on for a few of my most memorable fashion-related game-changers, and feel free to share your own stories in the comments!
