I Adopted A JCPenney Angel And So Can You

We’ve been doing a lot of gift guides here on The Frisky. And we know our efforts to tell you about the latest fashion and beauty trends might seem as if we’re always saying: “Buy! Buy! Buy!” And sometimes we forget that there is always someone less fortunate than us. So today, we’re asking you to join the JCPenney Angel Giving Tree program, which allows you to adopt an “angel”—a needy child or senior citizen in your area for the holidays. JCP provides the details on your “angel”—age, size, needs—and then you do the shopping. And then UPS delivers your package for free to the Salvation Army nearest your “angel.”

I adopted an “angel” today, and went shopping with gift cards given to me by JCP. I initially wanted to adopt a senior because most people would go for a child. But no seniors in my zip code had signed up for the program, so I picked a 14-year-old girl, even though I have no idea what teens are into today. The retailer had so many deals that I was able to get everything on my angel’s list. But, as a style writer, I did have trouble deciding between practicality and fashion. In the end, I think I was able satisfy both requirements. I have to say this was a truly rewarding experience, and I hope my “angel” likes her gifts and enjoys her holiday.
