Sad face. Leslie “Don’t Call Me Shirley” Nielsen died this weekend from complications from pneumonia. Apparently, Nielsen was a science-fiction movie actor before he discovered his comedy genius in the classic “Airplane!” and went on to make spoof flicks like the “Naked Gun” and “Police Squad!” Sigh. Those movies are totally what I watch when I’m feeling depressed—the humor is so silly and deadpan, it’s impossible not to laugh. We’ll miss you, Leslie. [EW]
