In Some Corners Of The World, Beauty Is In The Unibrow

We’ve spent much time and money waxing, tweezing, and threading the hairs that grow between our two eyebrows (and we imagine so have you). But this process, it turns out, isn’t shared by all women in the world. Over in Tajikistan (a small country just north of Afghanistan), women pride themselves on their full-grown brows as a mark of beauty. And for those who don’t naturally have pronounced unibrows, one can easily purchase pigmented herbs to color in the space, much like an eyebrow pencil. Reports the Global Post: “Asking Tajik women why they like the unibrow is a bit like asking Western women why they like to paint their nails or pluck their eyebrows into oblivion.”

We think this is a really interesting perspective and can easily see how others could find beauty in it. Yet, despite all the crazy eyebrow trends of the past two years, we’d imagine this would be a hard one to catch on in the U.S. [Global Post]
