How To Get A Man’s Attention

Here’s the scenario: you meet a new guy and within the first 10 seconds you know whether you’re attracted to each other or not. Happens all the time, right? But what you may not realize is that within those first ten seconds, the guy is spending half that time checking out a specific feature of yours. Think you know what it is? Find out if you’re right after the jump. Using special eye-tracking software, scientists at Manchester University discovered that within the first ten seconds of meeting a woman for the first time, the average (and I guess straight) guy will spend more than half that time looking at her mouth. And not unsurprisingly, “research suggests that red lips and perceived attractiveness are still inextricably linked, with red lipstick the most powerful attractor, and one that significantly increases visual fixation.” So, if you want to be noticed over the holidays, ladies, it’s as easy as wearing some red lipstick when you hit the Christmas parties. And don’t worry if your lips are a little on the thin side: “the study also showed that whether women have thin lips or a perfect pout, those who wear lipstick secure much greater levels of attraction than those who do not.”

If you want to try red lips this season, but you aren’t sure which shade to go with, I have a little tip. Back when I did that “Mad Men” -inspired photo shoot, the makeup artist told me that the lipstick that is used the most on the set of “Mad Men” is NARS “Heat Wave.” A little research confirmed she was indeed right that that is a popular shade of the “MM” set. Since then I’ve noticed several friends and acquaintances rocking the shade, and guess what? It’s, like, universally flattering. It seems like whatever your skin color or hair color, this lipstick is the bomb. If you want to make a quick impression, get yourself some before your next holiday shindig! [via Daily Mail]
