An Impromptu “Hallelujah Chorus”

Imagine wandering around the mall one day and having more than 600 people spontaneously break into song. That’s exactly what happened to shoppers at a Philadelphia Macy’s last month when they were treated to an ebullient rendition of the “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s “Messiah.” Part of the Knight Foundation’s “Random Acts of Culture” initiative, the event included members of the Philadelphia Opera Company, along with participants from 28 other choral groups. The group was accompanied by Macy’s in-house Wanamaker Organ, the largest pipe organ in the world. [YouTube]
