When I saw the first few seconds of Prada’s latest fashion film, I thought, Hm, they’ve animated a runway show. How dull. But what the company is calling a “MotionBook,” rather than a “Look Book,” is actually quite a bit more than that: a startling, beautiful, surreal blending of pieces from the fall/winter 2010 line overlayed with a mix of animation twists. Grazia says of the James Lima-directed short, “We love the fashion-illustration-come-to-life feel of it, and the raw, almost comic book treatment of the images,” and so do we. Now if only we could get real life to look like that. [Grazia]
