The Boob Tube: Must-See TV For The Week Of October 25, 2010
There is a serious injustice happening on our televisions this week. Folks with DirecTV will start enjoying the final season of “Friday Night Lights” on Wednesday night, while those of us without will have to wait until … the freaking spring. Luckily, there is lots going on to temper this travesty—and most of it is going down live. First, catch Jerry Springer’s 20th anniversary special. Next, see Barack Obama on “The Daily Show.” And finally, witness the “Saturday Night Live” dream team—host Jon Hamm with musical guest Rihanna. Previews and more shows you need to see, after the jump.
The Show: “Gossip Girl”
Set Your DVR For: Tonight, 9 p.m. (EST), The CW
Guess who’s baaaaaack? Jenny Humphrey. And she’s ready to rain a little more on Blair’s parade. With the help of Tim Gunn?
The Show: “16 and Pregnant”
Set Your DVR For: Tuesday, 10 p.m. (EST), MTV
MTV’s “16 and Pregnant” is one of the most honest and touching shows on television. So I can’t wait to watch the stories of nine new girls dealing with unwanted pregnancies.
The Show: “The Jerry Springer Show 20th Anniversary”
Set Your DVR For: Wednesday, Check Local Listings, NBC
Jer-ry! Jer-ry! Jer-ry! Can you believe that Jerry Springer has been on for 20 years? To celebrate, Jerry is taping a live show in Times Square featuring some of his most memorable guests, like the Kung Fu Hillbilly. Kim Kardashian, Kathy Griffin, and the women of “The View” stop by to say, “Congrats.”
The Show: “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart”
Set Your DVR For: Wednesday, 11 p.m. (EST), Comedy Central
I don’t know about you, but I am hightailing it to Washington, D.C., this weekend for the Rally to Restore Sanity. On Wednesday, Jon will be interviewing Barack Obama for the first time since he became president. The clip above is his last appearance on the show, from right before the election.
The Show: “The Fairy Jobmother”
Set Your DVR For: Thursday, 11 p.m. (EST), Lifetime
The title of this show is inexcusable, but the concept is interesting—like “Supernanny” for unemployed adults.
The Show: “Saturday Night Live”
Set Your DVR For: Saturday, 11:30 p.m. (EST), NBC
Now, chances are you will be at a Halloween party. So make sure to tape Jon Hamm hosting “SNL.” (This is a promo from last time he hosted since new ones aren’t out yet.) Bonus: Rihanna is the musical guest!
