How Much Do You Influence Your Partner’s Fashion Choices?
When I first met my boyfriend, he favored pristine white Adidas Superstar sneakers, baggy jeans, and Abercrombie & Fitch T-shirts. He kinda dressed like a douchebag, to be honest, but he didn’t act like one so I decided to give him a chance. These days he wears beat-up boots, slim-fitting jeans and plaid button-up shirts. I think he looks much better now, but I can’t help wondering how much influence I had over this sartorial change …
My boyfriend has changed a lot over the past few years, so I definitely can’t take all the credit, but I have been known to steer him toward racks of cute jeans, or casually mention, “Wow, that vest Joseph Gordon-Levitt is wearing would look fantastic on you!” Some of my friends plan their partners’ outfits down to the sock colors. Others wouldn’t care if their partner wore a purple 10-gallon hat to a formal wedding in Connecticut.
I’m curious: How much do you influence your partner’s fashion choices? Are they receptive to your efforts?
