We’re several weeks into the fall television season, and there are fresh episodes of all our favorite new dramas. But I would like to declare this the official Week of Reality Television. Why? Because the shows I’m most looking forward to all fit into the unscripted category. Although, I guess that opens us up to a debate about how real reality television really is? Anyhoo, after the jump, Patti Stanger takes Manhattan, the “Jersey Shore” crew heads to the Everglades, and Bret Michaels and Vanilla Ice both get brand-new shows.
The Show: “Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It”
Set Your DVR For: Tonight, 10 p.m. (EST), VH1
After a near-death experience, Bret Michaels has gotten off the “Rock of Love” bus and has rededicated himself to his kids and his girlfriend of 16 years, Kristi Gibson. Will he finally ask her to marry him? Bonus: before the series premiere, a one-hour special called “Rock of Love: Where Are They Now?” Yes, please!
The Show: “Millionaire Matchmaker”
Set Your DVR For: Tuesday, 9 p.m. (EST), Bravo
Patti Stanger is coming to the rescue of the women of New York City, ready to set up good-looking, smart gals with her socially inadequate millionaires. Uh, thanks?
The Show: “Scream 2010 Awards”
Set Your DVR For: Tuesday, 9 p.m. (EST), Spike
Leave it to Spike TV to create an awards show for horror, fantasy, and sci-fi movies and television. But hey, we aren’t complaining. Tune in to see a “Back to the Future” reunion (sorry, no Eric Stoltz) and a “Lost” tribute. And a first look at the new “Harry Potter” flick.
The Show: “Independent Lens”
Set Your DVR For: Tuesday, 10 p.m. (EST), PBS
It was one of my New Year’s resolutions a few years back to watch more PBS. Now I can actually make good on that. America Ferrera was recently named the new host of “Independent Lens,” the classic series of documentaries and independent films. Coolz.
The Show: “Vanilla Ice Project”
Set Your DVR For: Thursday, 9 p.m. (EST), DIY
Yes, I told you about this show last Thursday. But I am so excited that I want you to watch again this week. Obey!
The Show: “Jersey Shore”
Set Your DVR For: Thursday, 10 p.m. (EST), MTV
It’s the season finale of “Jersey Shore” and the crew goes to see the “crocodillies” as Snooki puts it. When one rubs up against their boat, the crew gets scared. But, hey, don’t they recognize a mating call?
