More than a thousand people gathered into St. Paul’s Cathedral in London to remember designer Alexander McQueen, who took his own life earlier this year. Many of the women in attendance, including Daphne Guinness (above), wore McQueen’s signature over-the-top and otherworldly designs. Guinness strutted in a pair of sky-high platforms, while Bjork wore a top made of thin, molded wood shaped like angel wings and a long feathered skirt. Other friends of McQueen were more tame in dress, but were still decked out for the event. Trust the fashion world to turn a memorial service into a fantastic runway show. It’s one of the best ways to remember an extraordinary designer. [WWD.com]
