The Boob Tube: Must-See TV For The Week Of September 20, 2010

Told you this week was going to be small screen overload. Every day, we’ll be bringing you up-close looks at new shows in our Fall TV Guide. But what about the shows you already love? After the jump, check out previews and details on the season premieres of “Glee,” “How I Met Your Mother,” “Cougar Town,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Community,” “Bored to Death,” and more.

The Show: “How I Met Your Mother”
Set Your DVR For: Tonight, 8 p.m. (EST), CBS
I can’t believe we’re already on season six of “HIMYM.” In this episode, Ted runs back into Cindy, aka Rachel Bilson. And he thinks he gets a full-body glimpse of her roommate, the woman who will become the titular mother.

The Show: “Glee”
Set Your DVR For: Tonight, 8 p.m. (EST), Fox
Woo hoo! “Glee” is back! Bring on the Sue Sylvester. Apparently, several new characters are being added—from a female football coach to several fresh faces in New Directions. Messing with perfection is always a risk, so here’s hoping it turns out well.

The Show: “Cougar Town”
Set Your DVR For: Wednesday, 9:30 p.m. (EST), ABC
Jennifer Aniston guest stars on the season premiere, playing Courteney Cox’s friendly therapist. Maybe they’ll get a coffee at Central Perk?

The Show: “Grey’s Anatomy”
Set Your DVR For: Thursday, 9 p.m. (EST), ABC
The past three fall TV seasons in a row, I’ve said that I’m breaking up with “Grey’s Anatomy.” And then I watch anyway. I’m expecting this year to be no different.

The Show: “Community”
Set Your DVR For: Thursday, 8 p.m. (EST), NBC
Betty White stars in this episode as a whacked-out professor. Nice.

The Show: “Bored to Death”
Set Your DVR For: Sunday, 10 p.m. (EST), HBO
Jason Schwartzman is one of my favorite actors, Jonathan Ames is one of my favorite writers, and Brooklyn is my favorite borough of New York City. So, of course, I love this series that brings all three together, with a sprinkling of Ted Danson and Zach Galifianakis. Plus, it’s on after “Boardwalk Empire,” which I am looking forward to watching again this week.
