Believe It Or Not, Sally Hansen’s About To Be The Next “It” Nail Polish Brand

It seems ever since Chanel surprised us with jade and gray nails last year, an awareness of varnish trends has been at an all-time high, and it’s coming straight from the runway. Next spring, however, it looks like Chanel (and the other high-design houses with beauty empires attached) will have some mass market competition. Sally Hansen, which can hardly be called a “cool” beauty brand, wisely teamed up with designers Prabal Gurung and Tracy Reese to provide lacquers to suit their spring collections, which just came down the runway at New York Fashion Week. For Gurung, Sally Hansen custom produced six shades based on his clothing colors, coming up with a particularly awesome “racing stripe” French manicure. The company also made special nail polishes based on Tracy Reese’s color palette, but her models were also done up with a new Hansen product—nail polish adhesive strips called Salon Effects. We have little doubt that when these polish collections hit the shelves, people will be racing to get their hands (and nails) all over them. [Wall Street Journal]
