Man Locks Himself In To Keep Technology Out

How far would you go to break yourself of your internet addiction? If you’re Mark Malkoff, you’ll lock yourself in your bathroom for five days. Malkoff, of New York, NY, thinks he’s way too addicted to his laptop and iPhone, so as of 11:30 a.m. on August 23, he’s locked himself in the loo. But Malkoff isn’t going in without a plan. While “on the inside,” he’ll:

  • read Gravity’s Rainbow (good luck with that, buddy)
  • memorize all of the U.S. presidents in order
  • memorize the location of every country in the world
  • write letters to family and friends telling them he loves them
  • learn how to sew on a button
  • finish his book proposal
  • read his friend’s screenplay
  • memorize the Sermon on the Mount
  • learn how to knit
  • finger paint
  • learn how to play “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” on guitar

And, finally, Malkoff has committed to writing a list of “99 Reasons I Love My Wife.” We’re sure that “putting up with a husband that locks himself in the bathroom for five days” will be at the top of that list.
