Did Beyonce Knowles‘ House of Dereon fashion line steal the idea of these studded leggings from Icelandic fashion brand E-label? That’s what Helba Hallgrimsdottir, who co-owns E-limited, claims. At left, E-label’s Heavy Metal Leggings designed by Asgrimur Mar Fridriksson. At right, Beyonce in House of Dereon’s version from the fall 2010 lookbook. Supposedly, Beyonce bought the E-label’s leggings last year at a London Top Shop. “I didn’t twig straight away that this was her own label: I just thought she was wearing our leggings,” says Hallgrimsdottir upon seeing the disputed pair. “It is practically just copy/paste.” There’s so much studding going around we’re more prone to thinking it was a coincidence or inspiration.
