Big news for the world of high fashion: OneStopPlus.com, an online retailer of plus-size fashions, is going to present the first ever plus-size runway show during New York’s Fall Fashion Week. Though the show is not directly aligned with IMG Fashion Week, it will take place in one of the buildings at Lincoln Center, where NYFW is being held. Participating designers include Avenue, Jessica London, Women Within, Ellos and La Redoute, while Lizzie Miller (who made headlines as a nude model in Glamour) and Toccara Jones (from “America’s Next Top Model”) will be among the models strutting their stuff. Though this is certainly a significant step forward in promoting a variety of body types in the fashion industry, it would be even better to not only see plus-size models walking the runways at, say, Marc Jacobs and Alexander Wang, but to have those designers making clothing that can fit the ample (ugh, pun) plus-size market. Baby steps, I guess. [PR Wire via Huffington Post]
