Beauty Test Drive: Klorane Dry Shampoo Changed My Life — And It Could Change Britney Spears’
Distressing, but not altogether shocking news from the Britney Spears’ rumor mill; according to a source who spoke with Heat magazine, Brit’s boyfriend Jason Trawick is getting fed up with her poor hygiene. Spears goes days without showering and changing her clothes — not to mention her weave — and as a result, the source says, “She hates washing her hair, so sometimes it can smell downright sour.”
Sigh. Britney, my sister, I feel you on the not -showering-and-washing-your-hair thing. But allow me to introduce you to my new best friend in my quest to skip washing my locks: dry shampoo. I’ve written about my lack of interest in showering before, but here’s a recap: I find showering boring. I don’t do it everyday, but I will shower on what would be an “off” day if I have a date or I’m feeling unpleasantly funky. Otherwise, I am an every-other-day kind of gal, especially when it comes to washing my hair. I think washing my hair everyday is bad for it and causes it to dry out, but in between washes my roots can start to get a little grimy and limp. I’ve been meaning to test out a dry shampoo for a while and this weekend, I picked up a bottle of Klorane’s Gentle Dry Shampoo. I bought it because it had the Allure magazine sticker of approval and even though I think Allure is boring, they do know their beauty products like whoa.
Anyway, dry shampoo, or at least this particular brand, is amazing. All you have to do is mist the powder (it uses an aerosol pump) on your hair, particularly at the roots and let it hang out for a couple minutes. Then you brush your hair like usual and go about with your regular styling. I swear to Oscar Blandi, my hair looks like it’s been freshly blown out and the shampoo gave my hair a nice fresh scent that was not overpowering (so it doesn’t conflict with any other styling products). I am a serious convert. I will become a full-on disciple if I decide to skip washing my hair tomorrow too and a gentle dash of Klorane still does its trick.
So, seriously, Britney, get on the dry shampoo bandwagon, give yourself a whore’s bath, and change your outfit — you’ll look and smell good as new. [$18, Lovely Skin]
