5 Celeb Siblings With Strange Careers

It’s easy to fall in love with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, with his dimples and cheeky grin, but it might be harder to make him fall in love with you. But if you’ve got a penchant for pyrotechnics, you might have a shot with his brother, Dan Gordon-Levitt, who is a “fire-spinning flow artist.” He’s a dead-ringer for Joe, with the addition of dreadlocks, presumably smelling like patchouli and having one of the weirdest jobs ever. And, apparently, he goes by the name “Burning Dan” and can teach you how to dance with fire … which will be really helpful in the inevitable apocalypse. We were so overwhelmed with joy at this insight into sibling-hood that we rounded up a few other celeb siblings with interesting careers. [PopEater]
  1. The artist formerly and presently known as Prince has a sister named Tyka Nelson who is also a singer, which isn’t that strange. But she also likes to carry around a stuffed blue dinosaur she calls Jazz and has an imaginary boyfriend she calls Marc Anthony. She wears two watches (one is set to “Marc Anthony time”), covers her windows in tinfoil to block out the sunlight, and has two sons named Sir and President. The Christian singer released her last album “A Brand New Me” in 2008. [Prince.org]
  2. Our 39th president, Jimmy Carter, was a saint compared to his brother Billy Carter. People found him to be a breath of fresh air at first, enjoying his carefree ramblings and calling him a “country philosopher.” Then they realized the guy was just drunk all the time. Billy managed the family peanut farm into the ground and produced his own brand of beer, called Billy Beer. Then there were some sketchy involvement with Libya and he was put in rehab and the family distanced themselves. Peanut farmer and beer producer? Looks like Jimmy won that round. [NY Times]
  3. David, Patricia, and Rosanna Arquette have all had a decent amount of success as actors. And their lesser-known sister, Alexis Arquette, has done relatively well for herself as well as an actress, musician, cabaret performer, and transwoman. She was born Robert Arquette and got her first major role playing a transvestite in “Last Exit to Brooklyn,” but it was 16 years later that she got her sex change and documented the experience in “Alexis Arquette: She’s My Brother.” Since then, she’s been in plenty of indie and mainstream movies, most memorably, to me, as playing Boy George in “The Wedding Singer,” in which she sang “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?” and it was awesome. 4. Alanis Morissette has a twin brother named Wade Morisette, who found a way to combine his passions for yoga and music as the spokesman for Lululemon Athletica apparel. He also joined the Yoga Pilgrimage and is promoting his first album, Sargam Scales of Music. It’s super weird to me when you find out that someone has a twin you didn’t know about … it’s kinda a jagged pill to swallow. Yup. I went there. [Yahoo]
