In the past few years, we’ve seen a lot of book trends. We’ve over-mined vampire/human love, exhausted horror updates of classics, and have almost reached the saturation point on Swedish mysteries. But according to USA Today, a new book trend is ascendant: Amish romance novels. There are already a few series on bookstore shelves of this type: as Beverly Lewis’ Seasons of Grace, Wanda Brunstetter’s Indiana Cousins, and Cindy Woodsmall’s Sisters of the Quilt. An example of a racy scene from one of these books? An unmarried woman letting down her hair in front of a man. Take that level of chastity, Bella and Edward. [USA Today]
