Lindsay Lohan was released from jail early this morning, after serving 13 full days in the pokey for violating her probation in a DUI case. She was sentenced to 90 days, but has been released early for good behavior; for those who might cry that she is receiving special treatment, it is fairly common for non-violent offenders to serve reduced sentences because of prison overcrowding. LiLo is now off to spend a court-ordered three months in rehab at an undisclosed location in the L.A. area. She was originally supposed to get 24 hours to spend with family and friends after being released, but the judge ordered her straight to rehab. The rehab facility that Lohan was originally supposed to spend her 90-days, Morningside Recovery, was also recently deemed “not secure enough” by the judge; there was concern that drugs could easily be passed to the actress. So, what kind of drugs does LiLo supposedly have a problem with? According to TMZ, Lohan’s drugs of choice are crystal meth and opiates, though her lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, told Radar Online that is absolutely untrue. TMZ also claims that Lohan has a dependence on Adderall, a drug used to treat Attention Deficit Disorder, and that she will be treated for bipolar disorder while in rehab.
I, for one, am glad to see Lindsay is off to get the help she needs, for whatever her problems may be. Let’s hope she takes the process seriously and comes out a healthier, happier, more law-abiding citizen.
