“Cop Without A Badge” To Become A TV Show
Cop Without A Badge is the book that launched a thousand table-flips on “The Real Housewives of New Jersey.” The true-crime tome, which the Smoking Gun has confirmed for authenticity, claims that in the mid-’80s, Danielle Staub was going by the alias Angela Minelli and working as an escort. It also says that she was a drug mule who was involved in a kidnapping, and was busted in an apartment alone with six kilos of cocaine. Now, the book may be becoming a television show. “Nothing is ever a done deal until the ink is dry on the contract, but there’s such a tremendous amount of interest that I think it’s as close as you can come to saying it’s a done deal,” says author Charles Kipps. But the show won’t be centered around Danielle at all—it’ll be 90 percent about her ex-husband. “The Danielle stuff is great, but the character of Kevin Maher [Staub’s ex-husband] is a very interesting, multi-leveled character. The Danielle stuff in the book is only about 17 pages out of the 300-plus page book,” he says. “If you read the book, yeah, she’s a little wild in the book and she’s promiscuous in the book, but as far as the other stuff you kind of get the impression that maybe she was at the wrong place at the wrong time. In other words, the book doesn’t necessarily draw all the conclusions. … She’s much more of a sympathetic character in the book.”
Interesting. Maybe we should give her the benefit of the doubt? Or not.
If the show gets interest from a network, a pilot would be made in the spring and the show could potentially be on air by the fall of 2011. Who do you think they will cast as Danielle? [I vote for Julia Allison — the resemblance is kind of uncanny. — Editor Amelia] [Radar]
