Tweeting is not just for the younger generations, as proven by the oldest Twitter user, Ivy Bean. Sadly, the Twitter maven passed away today at 104 years old. Bean died in her sleep and had been ill for weeks during her time at a nursing home. During her stay, she and the staff at her nursing home posted Twitter updates about her health. Bean’s popular Twitter account currently has 59,261 followers. Her presence is still felt online as her home care manager tweeted in her absence, “Ivy passed away peacefully at 12.08 this morning.” Bean, a former mill worker, joined Facebook at 102 years old. When she was born in 1905, the telegram was the fastest way to communicate. She might be gone, but her mark in social media will live on forever … through her Twitter account, anyway. [Daily Mail]
