While merchandise turnover happens every season, it seems most jarring in the summertime. It’s about this time of year that we start noticing heavy knits and jackets in the new arrivals section nestled right in there next to the bikinis. (Take for example, the new arrivals at the Gap: cardigans, hoodies, trenches, and argyle socks.) We understand that this is just how the industry works, that there has to be turnover for sales to succeed. At the same time, the thought of buying a sweater in July makes the room feel hotter than it already is.
