Hands down, the best thing about working at The Frisky is our amazing readers. We so heart all of your witty, thoughtful, and informative comments—heck, we even appreciate the mean ones. Sometimes, we can’t help but wonder about the faces behind avatars. We decided to launch a weekly column where we learn all about a Frisky reader. After the jump, meet EmiBLove, one of our most prolific commenters. Please state your name, age and location for The Friskyverse.
It’s Myra. I’m 24 and I’m hopping all over the Bay Area.
How did you find the site?
I had followed a few links from Cracked, but I got hooked when I read a “Girl Talk” piece and the comments. Loved it!
What do you do all day, other than follow The Frisky, which is totally condoned?
I run a wellness center that focuses on preventative health care.
Tricky answer. Recently single from a serious primary relationship. But I’m still with my other boys.
What is your fave post in recent Frisky history?
“Dear Wendy: I’ve Fallen In Love With Another Man.” It was one that really hit close to home because it was something I had a lot of experience with.
What are your pop culture guilty pleasures?
Not anything in English, but OMG I love, love, love Spanish soaps (novelas). Right now I’m religiously watching “Soy Tu Dueña” on Univision.
Can you share your most embarrassing dating story? We always share ours. It’s only fair.
I was meeting up with this guy for a late night burger at an In-N-Out. He was really shy, so I asked him if he wanted to go out for a drive to loosen him up beforehand. So we were driving around and I was really nervous. So what do I do? I run a red light! So he’s freaked out and I just keep driving. We turn to another street and I’m driving well below the speed limit and he points it out. I tell him that I couldn’t really make out the signs because I forgot my glasses. Poor guy was scared for his life. So finally we drive back to the In-N-Out. As I’m dropping him off, I lean in to kiss him and after he says, “Wow that was the scariest car ride ever.” After that, he proposed! Just kidding, I totally scared him away.
Who is your celebrity doppelganger?
I’ve never been compared to an actual celebrity, but Barbie (if that counts)—hence the avatar. And it’s not because I’m plastic, but because I have really big eyes and the same shaped face.
What type of skivvies do you have on right now?
My favorite striped mesh thong.
What is your secret talent?
Finding Waldo! When a group of friends and I are searching for him, I’ll be the first one to find him. And within seconds, too! This really isn’t a “talent,” but it’s the only thing I could think of.
Favorite book, movie, musician or band?
Book: Like Water for Chocolate. Movie: “Pretty in Pink.” Band: Zoé, an electro-rock band from Mexico.
Who is your celebrity crush?
Rafael Amaya, a Mexican actor who I highly recommend doing an image search on. He is so beautiful; I’d kidnap him given the chance. [Just looked him up. Hawt. -- Editor]
What’s something you hope to see more of on The Frisky?
I’ve seen great posts on exercise, but I’d love to see more on diet, nutrition and general health. These things mean a lot to me because of my profession. But along the lines of that, I’m loving Amelia’s recipes. Maybe some cocktail recipes would be nice.
