Madonna is directing yet another Britastic film. After last year’s “Filth and Wisdom,” she’s now doing one called “W.E.” The flick is about Queen Elizabeth and how she was once a savvy, powerful chick. Natalie Dormer of “The Tudors” will be playing the Queen Mother and James Fox of “Sherlock Holmes” has been cast as King George V. Madonna totally loses us on the plot, though, which goes on a confusing journey through England’s royal scandals, like the love affair between King Edward VIII and American divorcée Wallis Simpson. During the relationship, Simpson was accused of being a witch, a hermaphrodite and the king was thought to be gay and a Nazi sympathizer. Supposedly, their relationship will be juxtaposed “with a 1998 romance between a woman in a loveless marriage (Abbie Cornish) and a Russian security guard.” Got it? Yeah, me neither. Vera Farmiga, Ewan McGregor, and Margo Stilley have all dropped out of the project. Stilley cited “artistic differences” and said Madonna is “really something.” In a good or bad way? [Telegraph UK]
