Katie Holmes Moonlights As A Designer

Did you guys know that Katie Holmes was designing clothes these days? Neither did I, but apparently she’s been doing it for two years after pairing up with her friend and stylist Jeanne Yang. Their line is called (creatively) Holmes & Yang, and it all started on a photo shoot where Katie was the subject and Jeanne was the stylist. Jeanne recounts that Katie was looking at a pair of light colored pants with a visible pocket. “[Katie] said, ‘Why didn’t they put a nude lining in?’ ” says Yang. “I thought, ‘That’s crazy that she would notice that.’ This wasn’t just an appreciation of pretty clothes.” Years later, the two decided to team up and their mission is to make super luxurious wardrobe staples—emphasis on the luxury since a cocktail dress retails for well over $2000 and a blouse will set you back $900. Oh, and they also make some of their designs with matching ensembles for girls, since both ladies have super fashionable toddlers. Katie and Jeanne have just unveiled their fall, ballet-inspired collection above. What do you think? I love the black and white dress, but everything else just seems far too simple to drop that kind of cash on. Could it be that the famous mother/daughter fashion collaboration that I’m more into is the Macy’s juniors line from Madonna and Lourdes? [Elle]
