According to Alison Arngrim, who played Nellie Oleson on the TV show “Little House on the Prairie,” all was not so quiet on the western front. In her new memoir, Confessions of a Prairie Bitch (awesome title!), she admits that there was some major behind-the-scenes tension between herself, Melissa Gilbert (Laura Ingalls), and Melissa Sue Anderson (Mary Ingalls). Alison claims that she and Melissa Gilbert did not hit it off with “prom queen type” Melissa Sue Anderson. “Melissa Gilbert and I wound up bonding and becoming best friends like sisters and Melissa Sue became sort of the ‘frenemy.’ … So we were with her all day but I guess she was like, ‘I’m not hanging out with you two.’ She was just sort of appalled by Melissa Gilbert and I,” Arngrim said. Yep, just another day on the homestead.
Get ready to get your reading bonnet on because her memoir also talks about other juicy stuff like the fights between Michael Landon and Katherine MacGregor and her personal life. She was sexually abused as a child and credits the role of bad girl Nellie with helping her cope. Sounds like a must-read. I’ll break out my apron and floor-length calico dress. [FOX]
