Hands down, the best thing about working at The Frisky is our amazing readers. We so heart all of your witty, thoughtful, and informative comments—heck, we even appreciate the mean ones. Sometimes, we can’t help but wonder about the faces behind avatars. We decided to launch a weekly column where we learn all about a Frisky reader. After the jump, meet Lilien, one of our most prolific commenters. Please state your name, age, and location for The Friskyverse.
My name is Lucia, but I’m usually known as Lucy. I am 24 and I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
How did you find the site?
It was through a link on Cracked and I’m pretty sure it was something about bizarre sex positions.
What do you do all day, other than follow The Frisky, which is totally condoned?
I work at a software company, so I spend most of the day there. I have a 4-year-old daughter and she takes up the rest of my time. I also draw and paint in my spare time. Those are the most important things. When my kid is spending time with her dad, I do all sorts of random stuff, ranging from yoga and tarot reading to knitting and sewing my own clothes.
I think it would be “single,” but there are two guys which I’m seeing fairly regularly, even though neither of them is actually a boyfriend. And I’ve been recently “abandoned” by a girl who claimed to be in love with me, so I guess I’ll take some time before I try to date a woman again.
What is your fave post in recent Frisky history?
What are your pop culture guilty pleasures?
I’m kind of old-fashioned when it comes to pop culture. When I was younger I would stop everything I was doing to watch “The Simpsons” or “The Nanny.” No, wait, I still do! That’s about as guilty as I get.
Can you share your most embarrassing dating story? We always share ours. It’s only fair.
I don’t know if it was actually a date, but this happened to me last weekend. I had worked all day—a 12-hour shift—and after that I had met with a friend to talk. So it was around midnight and I was trying to stay awake while walking home in high heels. A gentleman who was at least twice my age approached me and offered to have a coffee with me. He turned out to be an actor on local TV. I accepted, since it seemed fun actually, and while we were talking he said he had been enchanted by the way I walked. I was feeling flattered until he said that I was waddling. It still was funny at that point, but he kept repeating it throughout our conversation. I was so frustrated that as soon as I finished the coffee I went home … in a cab.
Who is your celebrity doppelganger?
I’ve been told I look like Shakira, but that was back in my teenage years.
What type of skivvies do you have on right now?
None, of course. It’s my day off! No work, no underwear.
What is your secret talent?
I have many useless abilities. I wouldn’t call my painting skills a “talent” but I would say the most awesome [ability I have] is being able to knit a complete outfit, from head to toe, if you just give me enough wool.
Favorite book, movie, musician or band?
I have many fave books, since I love reading. But my all-time favorite is Stephen King, and I still read The Eyes of the Dragon every now and then. Movies … I liked “The Lord of the Rings” very much. I’m not really a movie person. My favorite band is Megadeth but it might switch places with Blind Guardian or Ayreon, depending on the day. Yes, I am a metalhead, and yes, I listen to weird music!
Who is your celebrity crush?
That would definitely be Angelina Jolie. I adore her.
What’s something you hope to see more of on The Frisky?
I like a lot when there is an open space for readers to share ideas or opinions, like that “what would you do if you were a man” post, or they’ve recently asked what was happiness for each person. I love those.
