Frisky Reader Revealed: Show Us What You’re Working With, Titsmagee
Hands down, the best thing about working at The Frisky is our amazing readers. We so heart all of your witty, thoughtful, and informative comments—heck, we even appreciate the mean ones. Sometimes, we can’t help but wonder about the faces behind avatars. We decided to launch a weekly column where we learn all about a Frisky reader. After the jump, meet Titsmagee, one of our most prolific commenters. Please state your name, age, and location for The Friskyverse.
My name is Kristen (cough cough cough) and I’m 22. I live in Bloomington, IN, but I spent half of my childhood in the same little Indiana town as Anitabath and half in Huntington Beach, CA.
How did you find the site?
Sadly, I don’t actually remember. I think I clicked a random link somewhere and then read the entire back site backwards while at work.
What do you do all day, other than follow The Frisky, which is totally condoned?
I am a student at Indiana University and I work at a hotel answering phones and running errands. I basically get paid to tell guests how to retrieve their voicemail and use their thermostats while I embroider and watch movies. It’s pretty great. And at the end of the summer I get promoted to the front desk—more responsibility/money!
I am in a long-term relationship with a live-in boyfriend who I’ve yet to nickname on the site.
What is your fave post in recent Frisky history?
What are your pop culture guilty pleasures?
I watch “The Real Housewives of New York City” and “New Jersey” and “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” But when I’m in a horrible mood, my guilty pleasure is watching “Fiddler on the Roof” until after the wedding part and then I turn it off. Pretending they don’t get driven out of their homes ends the movie on a happy, musical note and I feel completely cheered up.
Can you share your most embarrassing dating story? We always share ours. It’s only fair.
Once I went on a date with a guy who was in a musical with me. It was “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” and I played a prostitute. He asked me out during the early rehearsals and we went to a restaurant where I found out he was 27 and still living in his undergrad fraternity house. He went on and on about drinking with his friends and having girls over and I kept thinking, “How did I not see the signs about him? Am I really sitting here with a 27-year-old frat boy? Will I build up bad karma if I pretend to get sick?” After dinner we went to a movie and on the way from the car to the theater, he answered a call from his brother who invited him to hang out later. Frat boy’s response was, “I don’t know if I’m free later … it depends on how the date goes.” He tried to hold my hand during the movie and at the end of the night he tried to kiss me and, honest-to-God, I ducked. BEYOND awkward. The embarrassing part is that the next day, we had a dress rehearsal and I had to walk around in front of him in a bright Barbie pink corset, undies, and garters. As rehearsals went on, more people found out about our date and teased me for going out with him. And I had to avoid him like the plague even after our blocking got changed and I had to dance with him.
Who is your celebrity doppelganger?
People often tell me I look like Amanda Seyfried. More awesomely though, 6-year-old me looked exactly like 6-year-old Dakota Fanning. People called my dad and asked if I was in “I Am Sam.”
What type of skivvies do you have on right now?
Black lace thong with a little pink bow on the back.
What is your secret talent?
I don’t know if I have a secret talent in the traditional sense, but I’m secretly really adventurous. I’ll skydive or cliff jump without a moment’s hesitation but most people think I’m pretty tame. And I’m great with power tools.
If you could be a superhero, what would your superpower be?
I would LOVE the ability to turn back time, but not if it means flying around backwards like Superman. That sounds tiring and I’m lazy. I would want to be able to jump time and space just by thinking about it. I could visit all the places I want to, sleep as much as I want, get everything done and maybe even take cooking classes with some awesome chefs. Plus my house would be so clean.
Favorite book, movie, musician or band?
I’m a literature major so picking a favorite book is really hard. I loved Milan Kundera’s Book of Laughter and Forgetting, and I love any and all utopian and dystopian novels 1984, Ecotopia, Handmaid’s Tale. My favorite movie is “Stranger than Fiction” and my favorite band is The New Pornographers.
Who is your celebrity crush?
Is it weird that I sort of don’t have one? There are actors like John Krasinski, Justin Long, Andy Samberg that I find attractive and funny, but I probably wouldn’t date them if given the chance.
What’s something you hope to see more of on The Frisky?
I’m a food blogger in my free time so I’m loving Amelia’s new recipe column. I think it would be fun to also have an easy craft of the week. I love crafting and sewing and painting and most people think it’s way harder than it really is. It would be cool to have some DIY home decor ideas.
