M.I.A. Writes Song About New York Times Reporter
Even after Tweeting journalist Lynn Hirschberg’s phone number, M.I.A. is still on the war path in retaliation for The NY Times Magazine cover story that she feels portrays her in a negative light. This weekend, she unleashed her anger on her blog, where she posted snippets of the interview she claims were taken out of context. And one of them is about a detail as trivial as what flavor French fry she ate during the interview. Now M.I.A. has even written a song about the debacle called “I’m a Singer.” The lyrics go, “I’m a singer/Never said anything else/I didn’t lie to you/Thinking of somebody else.” Oh, and another choice snippet: “You’re a racist, I wouldn’t trust you one bit.” I think it’s time for M.I.A. to drop it and move on.
