The school year is coming to an end, and 40 students graduating from Central St. Martins in London showed off their designs. The clothes may look more prepared for the set of a bizarro human “Sesame Street,” but it’s fun to see fashion students going crazy and taking risks. For the last couple of seasons, reviewers of past students’ creations lamented an absence of exuberance on the runway, blaming the crap economy for turning fashion shows into somber affairs. Perhaps that’s why this level of unwearable insanity on the runway is so exciting; it’s a long-awaited hint at better times to come. Sure, these crazy kids will probably tone it down as they grow up, but even toned-down versions of these outfits would be more interesting than most of the stuff we’re used to seeing. We can’t wait to see what they’ll come up with next. [Elle UK]
