The Boob Tube: Must-See TV For The Week Of June 1, 2010

OK, yes, I forgot to give you your weekly dose of what to watch yesterday. But have no fear—that had to do with me being lazy on the beach and was not at all a commentary on the television options for the week. Most scripted dramas are over for the season, which means get ready for lots and lots of reality TV. In addition to my new television obsession—”The OCD Project” (Thursdays, 10 p.m., VH1)—we are pumped that Aziz Ansari is hosting Sunday night’s “MTV Movie Awards.” And from the state that brought you “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” and “Jersey Shore” comes a new series called “Jersey Couture,” which premieres tonight on Oxygen. After the jump, details and previews.

The Show: “Jersey Couture”
Set Your DVR For: Tonight, 10 p.m., Oxygen
Continuing the New Jersey-themed entertainment of late, this show follows two young, loud, big-busted Jersey sisters who run a boutique. The personalities are big. The clothes are little and, well, totally fugs. In the best way possible.

The Show: “Losing It With Jillian”
Set Your DVR For: Tonight, 10 p.m. (EST), NBC
Even though she slaps her name on cleanses and questionable pills, we can’t help but love Jillian Michaels of “The Biggest Loser.” On this new show, she drops in on overweight families and helps them turn their lives around in seven days. It’s “Extreme Makeover: Waistline Edition.”

The Show: “Downtown Girls”
Set Your DVR For: Tonight, 11 p.m. (EST), MTV
One half “Sex and the City,” one half “The City,” the common denominator here is women in New York City. This series follows blogger Shallon Lester and her friends through their work and dating lives.

The Show: “Toddlers and Tiaras”
Set Your DVR For: Wednesday, 10 p.m. (EST), TLC
If you want to feel instantly better about your childhood, watch this series about moms who’ll do pretty much anything to see their pint-sized children win beauty pageant crowns. Spray tanning a 4-year-old should just be illegal.

The Show: “Royal Pains”
Set Your DVR For: Thursday, 10 p.m. (EST), USA
USA shows are highly underrated and I’m kind of digging this series about a doctor who, after a patient dies, is forced to make house calls in The Hamptons.

The Show: “MTV Movie Awards”
Set Your DVR For: Sunday, 9 p.m. (EST), MTV
The MTV Movie Awards is always a good time, and this year we are so freaking pumped that Aziz Ansari is hosting. Will “The Hangover,” “Avatar,” or “New Moon” take top honors? Yes, it’s that kind of award show.
