Memorial Day weekend is upon us, and it’s time to get away. Traveling by bus is easy and cheap, but those seats can be pretty cramped. One seat is hardly enough for one person, so I often employ this trick I learned back in college to make sure the seat next to mine empty. Arrive earlier than your departure time, so you can be in front of the other passengers. Once you board the bus, grab a seat near the front. Stick a bag under or in front of the window seat. Then, sit in the aisle seat. As the other passengers board, they’ll assume you have a companion and that there are more empty seats in the back. This is quite a deceptive trick, but trust me, there are some true weirdos who ride coach buses, and you don’t want to start your trip off badly.
