I think we can all agree that there is a special place in Bad Advertising Hell for tampon and maxi-pad brands. For the most part, ads for period products are of the aspirational, joyous, and sensual variety, and claim that using these brands of tampons and pads should be oh-so-effing empowering! For every egg I’ve shed, there’s a tampon or maxi-pad ad featuring a perky gal with a braid and a tennis racket. Of course, some brands are aware of these cliches and have aimed to be edgy and irreverent, but are stupid nevertheless.
