The theme of this week’s television offerings is, without a doubt, goodbyes. (Besides a hello to the new season of “The Bachelorette,” which Amelia is liveblogging starting at 9 p.m. EST.) After 20 years, “Law & Order” is dunzo after this week’s episode. And after eight years, the clock has finally ticked down on Jack Bauer and “24.” Not to mention that “American Idol,” “Dancing with the Stars,” “How I Met Your Mother,” and “Tough Love Couples” are all done for the season. Sigh. Previews and more, after the jump.
The Show: “24″
Set Your DVR For: Tonight, 8 p.m. (EST), Fox
It’s hard to believe, but Jack Bauer has been saving the world one hour at a time for the past eight years. Tonight, will he do it again? Or will he make like Jack Shepherd of “Lost”?
The Show: “How I Met Your Mother”
Set Your DVR For: Tonight, 8 p.m. (EST), CBS
A few episodes back, Lily and Marshall made a pact that when they see the fifth group doppelganger, that they would start trying to have a baby. So what will they do when they see bizarro Barney? And will we ever meet this mother? Ahhhhhh!
The Show: “Tough Love Couples”
Set Your DVR For: Tonight, 9 p.m. (EST), VH1
I’ve been loving this series where matchmaker Steve Ward works with five couples who have serious issues. The deal with each couple is that, tonight, the couples have to either get engaged or break up. Why only those choices are available? Because this is TV, people!
The Show: “Law & Order”
Set Your DVR For: Tonight, 10 p.m. (EST), NBC
After 20 freaking years, this is the last episode of “Law & Order.” Yes, that was the gavel sounding. Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn stars in this one. Do we think she’ll be killed or be the killer?
The Show: “American Idol”
Set Your DVR For: Tuesday, 8 p.m. (EST), Fox
It’s the finale of “American Idol.” So will it be Crystal or Lee? Our money is on Crystal. And it’s hard to believe that it’s Simon Cowell’s final episode. Sniff. I’ll let you determine if that was sarcastic or not.
The Show: “Dancing with the Stars”
Set Your DVR For: Tuesday, 8 p.m. (EST), ABC
Most people will be watching to see who will win—Evan Lysacek, Nicole Schrezinger, or Erin Andrews. But we’ll be watching the results night to see Jake Pavelka dance with Vienna Girardi to (barf) “On the Wings of Love.” Hoping for a trainwreck.
